As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (Maryland) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Florida), I provide mental health counseling for individuals suffering from any number of challenges (see below). I am also a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional so my work takes on an integrative approach to help you find the right balance and routines for your life. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, we can also work through the difficult life experiences that may have you feeling stuck and unable to move forward. Our work together will focus on mind, body and soul to bring healing and integration to all parts of you.
In our work together, we may examine your basic lifestyle routines like sleep, diet, exercise, and general circadian rhythms to introduce more supportive routines and self-care. I am also a Certified Aromatherapist and use essential oils regularly as tools for healing.
By listening to you, asking questions for deeper understanding and helping you to clarifying patterns, we will work together to find a way to make positive changes. I have an integrative, individualized approach that will assist you to learn and develop coping skills, implement new life-affirming behaviors and support you through the challenges that arise in that process. We may combine techniques from mindfulness work, cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, solution-focused therapy, humanistic therapy, and attachment-based theories. I am also inspired by Polyvagal Theories and Internal Family Systems Therapy and feel they both have a lot to offer the therapeutic process. I am LGBTQ Allied and strive to be culturally sensitive.

As a Clinical Āyurvedic Specialist, an experienced yoga teacher and a practitioner of Jyotish, I have additional lenses to view your presenting issues with as well as additional solutions. This can be very helpful if you have been experiencing deep-seated long-term challenges. If you are interested in the Vedic system of knowledge, we can include this in your counseling experience. Through getting to know you I will evaluate your doshic makeup (prakruti and vikruti) to understand how they play a role in your mental health and physical health. We can examine the role the panchamaha bhūtas, gunas, and kośas have in whatever experience it is that brings you to therapy. We can also use these understandings to create goals for change for better overall health. We might look at your astrological chart to see what karmas may be manifesting in your life and what remedies are available to you. Incorporating the āyurvedic system of health into the counseling experience aims to help you achieve the highest aspect of yourself. You do not need prior knowledge of these systems to find benefit – one of my main roles is to be an educator and teach you how to use the guiding principles yourself to manage your symptoms. I find incorporating yogic and āyurvedic therapies (yogic postures, marma, nasya, breathing practices and meditation) is especially helpful in healing from stored traumas and can help one find renewal and regeneration of the entire nervous system.

if you are a regular client for counseling services, I will ask you for your birth information (date, place and exact time) and we can use the vedic charts to understand aspects of your mind and emotions, personality, relationships, tendencies and blocks that may be causing you pain. We can also discuss remedies to begin working with the challenges to strengthen you on all levels.
